A Delhi-based social media influencer has alleged that a man sexually assaulted her after inviting her to a hotel in Burari on the pretext of shooting social media reels. According to her complaint, she came into contact with the accused through a social media platform in 2022. She alleged that during a meeting arranged for content creation, the accused raped her and subsequently blackmailed her, leading to repeated instances of sexual exploitation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complainant further stated that she later discovered that the accused had allegedly concealed his true identity. After distancing herself from him, she alleged that certain relatives of the accused threatened her. Based on her complaint, Delhi Police registered an FIR at Burari Police Station and commenced an investigation into the allegations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case highlights the growing legal concerns surrounding misuse of social media connections and digital platforms to facilitate sexual exploitation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Action to be Taken<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The survivor should immediately report the incident to the nearest police station or through available women’s safety helplines and ensure that a detailed complaint is lodged. She should preserve all available evidence, including messages, call records, social media chats, photographs, videos, hotel records, screenshots, emails, and any other material that may support her allegations. If threats or blackmail continue, she should promptly inform the investigating officer and seek protection from the police and the court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The survivor should cooperate with the investigation by providing a statement and any relevant evidence in her possession. She may also seek legal assistance and counselling support through legal services authorities, women’s commissions, or victim-support centres.
