Authorities stated that the accused allegedly threatened her, robbed her valuables, and pushed her into the well in an attempt to prevent her from identifying him. Police further said the woman survived by holding onto a cable inside the well for nearly 21 hours before local residents heard her cries and rescued her. Following a scientific investigation using CCTV footage and mobile phone records, police arrested the accused.
