Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: A 58-year-old senior section engineer with the Indian Railways has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape and dowry harassment of his daughter-in-law. According to police, the woman alleged that she was subjected to dowry-related abuse, physical assault, and intimidation by her husband and other members of her marital family after her marriage in November 2023. She further alleged that her father-in-law sexually assaulted her after forcing her to consume an intoxicating substance and that she was confined in a room for three days before managing to contact the police. Authorities stated that a case was initially registered under provisions relating to dowry harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation. Following the investigation, rape charges were added based on the evidence collected. The accused, who had been absconding, was later arrested in Lucknow. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations remain subject to legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
