According to her family, she had allegedly faced physical and mental harassment from her husband, Asif. After her death, police reportedly recovered a suicide note and WhatsApp messages sent by Riza to a friend. According to the prosecution’s case, these materials contained allegations concerning the treatment she had received from her husband. Her family also alleged that she had previously experienced serious distress but that the matter was not properly communicated to them. Authorities should conduct a fair and thorough investigation into the allegations of domestic abuse and alleged abetment, examining the suicide note, digital communications, witness statements and other available evidence.
