New Delhi: Delhi Police registered a separate FIR against activist Swatantra Bhardwaj and unidentified social-media users following a complaint alleging online harassment, abuse and rape threats directed at a 14-year-old protester. The FIR includes provisions of the POCSO Act and Information Technology Act. Police separately arrested Bhardwaj in connection with an earlier assault case involving the girl’s father.
Action to Be Taken
Online threats against minors should be reported promptly to police and the cybercrime authorities. The child’s identity and personal information should be protected.
