1. Offenses Against Children

• Attempted Assault under Guise of Black Magic (Adoor): Police arrested T. Ranju, a former political worker, for using the pretext of performing black magic rituals to gain entry into a residence and attempt to sexually assault a minor girl.
• Exploitation of Disguised Minor (Meenangadi): A minor girl, who cut her hair short and dressed as a boy to work safely as a lorry cleaner to fund her mother’s medical treatment, was sexually assaulted by truck driver A.S. Sanoj. After an initial escape in Kozhikode, she was assaulted in Kottayam and was later rescued from a suicide attempt by the railway police.
• Weapon Attack Over Rejection (Kanyakulangara): Vattappara police arrested a 21-year-old man who ambushed and stabbed a 16-year-old girl in the face and neck with a sharp weapon after she rejected his marriage proposal.
