Kasaragod: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by an autorickshaw driver while returning home after attending an Onam celebration programme. Cheemeni police arrested the accused and registered a case under the POCSO Act. He was remanded in judicial custody until September 10. The case is being investigated by police.

Children travelling alone should have access to trusted adults and emergency assistance. Any suspected child sexual abuse should be reported immediately to police or the appropriate child-protection authorities.
