19-Year-Old Newlywed Dies by Suicide Two Months After Marriage

Thiruvananthapuram: A 19-year-old newlywed woman died by suicide at her residence in Varkala, two months after her marriage. According to police, Nasia attempted suicide in her bedroom on the evening of 8 July and was initially admitted to a private hospital in Varkala. As her condition worsened, she was shifted to another private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where she died in the early hours of 9 July. Police stated that her husband had left for Kuwait for work 13 days after their marriage, and family members informed investigators that she had been experiencing emotional distress due to living apart from him. Since the marriage had taken place only two months earlier, an inquest will be conducted in the presence of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) as part of the legal procedure. Varkala Police have initiated further proceedings.
