Case Registered Against Individual for Deploying a Goon to Threaten Wife 

Thrissur: A fresh criminal case has been registered against an individual from Thrissur following allegations that he sent a local goon to threaten his wife. The woman had previously filed a domestic violence complaint against him for brutal physical assault, leading to a police investigation where he was named an accused. While the Sessions Court had issued an order restraining the police from arresting him in connection with the initial assault case, he allegedly hired a local goon, Girish (50) of Perinjanam, to intimidate his wife.  

The goon allegedly trespassed into the victim’s residence and threatened her, demanding that she refrain from speaking to the media about the assault. Following this intimidation, the victim approached the police once more, leading to the arrest of the hired goon and the registration of a new case where the husband is named as the second accused. The police have stated they will pursue stringent legal action under the newly registered case.

This case highlights the criminal consequences of victim intimidation and the breach of judicial protection during an ongoing investigation. By allegedly hiring a third party to silence his wife, the husband faces joint criminal liability alongside the trespasser. Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), these actions directly violate Section 61 (Criminal Conspiracy), Section 54 (Abetment), Section 329 (Criminal Trespass), and Section 351 (Criminal Intimidation), alongside provisions for threatening a complainant to subvert justice. 

Crucially, committing a fresh offense while under a court order restraining arrest constitutes a severe violation of implied judicial relief conditions. Because his actions pose a direct threat to the victim’s safety and the integrity of the probe, the registration of this new FIR provides law enforcement with definitive legal grounds to move the court for the immediate cancellation of his interim protection, allowing for his custody under the fresh charges.
