Woman Alleges Sexual Assault After Being Called to Residence; Police Register Case 

Thamarassery,Kozhikode: Thamarassery police registered a case against a man following a complaint by a woman alleging sexual assault. According to the complaint, the woman, who operates an establishment in a local body-owned building, was allegedly contacted regarding matters connected to the continuation of her establishment’s functioning and was asked to visit the accused’s residence. She alleged that, upon reaching the residence, she was subjected to unwanted physical advances and sexual misconduct. Following her complaint, the police registered a case and commenced an investigation into the allegations.

The case highlights the legal protection available against sexual misconduct and abuse of influence or authority. If the allegations are substantiated, the conduct may amount to offences involving sexual harassment, assault with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty, or use of criminal force against a woman under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
