If the investigation establishes that the accused’s acts of assault, harassment, intimidation, or continuous abuse drove the victim to take the extreme step of ending her life, the offence may attract Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which deals with abetment of suicide. In addition, the alleged physical attack may constitute offences relating to voluntarily causing hurt (Section 115 BNS) or other relevant provisions depending on the nature and severity of the injuries caused.
