Ernakulam: A special POCSO court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to 43 years of imprisonment after finding him guilty in a case involving the sexual abuse of a minor girl under the guise of performing rituals to remove fear. According to the prosecution, the accused had gained the family’s trust by claiming to possess spiritual powers and allegedly subjected the child to repeated abuse during the rituals. The court also imposed a fine on the convict. As the case involves a minor, no information that could identify the survivor has been included.
