Woman and Newborn Found Dead in Lodge; Investigation Underway

Thrissur: A 30-year-old woman and her newborn baby were found dead inside a lodge room in Thrissur. According to police, the woman had checked into the lodge on 27 June, and the room was later found locked from the inside. Authorities stated that police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel forced open the door after repeated attempts to contact her were unsuccessful. Investigators believe the woman gave birth inside the room and that she may have died due to complications following childbirth. However, police said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination. An autorickshaw driver who had accompanied the woman to the lodge is being questioned as part of the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
