Gurugram, Haryana: A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly setting his 23-year-old girlfriend on fire following a dispute after she discovered that he was already married. According to police, the two had been in a relationship for about one-and-a-half years after meeting at the accused’s jewellery shop. Authorities stated that an argument broke out after the woman learned about his marital status. Police allege that the accused later poured kerosene on the woman and set her on fire at a rented flat on Sohna Road. She sustained severe burn injuries and died during treatment on 27 June. Following a complaint from the victim’s relative, police arrested the accused, recovered a kerosene bottle and his mobile phone, and the investigation is ongoing. The allegations remain subject to legal proceedings.
