Family Alleges Woman Faced Harassment After Dispute Over Chicken Curry; Seeks Justice

Thiruvananthapuram: The family of a woman who was found dead at her husband’s residence has sought a detailed police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. According to a complaint filed by her mother, the woman had allegedly faced continuous harassment after her marriage, including alleged dowry-related demands and caste-based abuse. The mother further alleged that her daughter was often denied food and that an argument had occurred after she was accused of eating more chicken curry than other family members. Police are investigating the complaint, and the allegations remain subject to legal proceedings.

Action to Be Taken

Any allegations of domestic abuse, dowry-related harassment, or coercive behaviour within a household should be reported to the appropriate authorities without delay. Authorities should conduct a fair and thorough investigation, ensure appropriate support for the victim’s family, and take action in accordance with the law while respecting due process.
