Woman Allegedly Set on Fire Over ₹5,000 Loan Dispute; Neighbour Under Investigation

Patan, Gujarat: A 35-year-old woman died after she was allegedly set on fire by her neighbour following a dispute over the repayment of a ₹5,000 loan. According to police, the woman had borrowed the money about a month earlier for household expenses. Authorities stated that during a discussion over the repayment, she requested additional time to return the amount. Police allege that the neighbour left the scene saying he was going to bring tea but later returned carrying petrol, which he allegedly poured on the woman before setting her on fire. Both sustained burn injuries, and the woman later died while undergoing treatment. Police have initiated an investigation, and the allegations remain subject to legal proceedings.
