Bengal Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped in Karnataka; Three Arrested

Karnataka: A 30-year-old tribal woman from West Bengal alleged that she was abducted, robbed, and gang-raped in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district. According to the police, the woman was forcibly taken in a car, sexually assaulted at a lodge, and robbed of her belongings. Following her complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested three accused. Authorities are continuing their investigation and collecting evidence.

The investigation should be completed promptly using forensic and digital evidence to ensure a strong prosecution. The survivor should receive immediate medical care, trauma counselling, legal assistance, and protection from intimidation. The trial should be conducted in a fast-track court, and if the accused are found guilty, strict punishment should be imposed. Authorities should also strengthen surveillance and safety measures in public transport and lodging facilities to help prevent similar offences.
