Woman Brutally Assaulted by Influencer in Iran; Case Sparks Public Outrage

Iran: On 31 July 2026, Iranian authorities continued investigating a widely publicized incident in which a social media influencer, Navid Ziadkhan Qaradaghi, was captured on video allegedly physically assaulting a young woman inside a beauty salon in Tabriz. The footage, which showed the woman being beaten, circulated widely on social media and triggered public outrage. The case renewed concerns about violence against women and the protection of women’s rights in Iran. Authorities detained the suspect, and legal proceedings were initiated following the incident.  

Action to be Taken: 
Authorities should conduct a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. The survivor should receive immediate medical care, psychological counselling, and legal support. Governments should also strengthen measures to prevent gender-based violence, encourage victims to report abuse without fear, and raise public awareness about women’s rights and protection from violence.
