Pathanamthitta Serial POCSO Abuse Case

Pathanamthitta Serial POCSO Abuse Case

Pathanamthitta: Police in Pathanamthitta registered 7 separate FIRs under the POCSO Act against 7 men—including the victim’s own father—for repeatedly abusing a Class 10 student over several years. The abuse began when the girl was in Class 5. The case came to light after the student confided in her classmates, prompting school authorities to alert the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Two individuals (a rented-house owner and another resident) have been taken into police custody, while steps are being taken to extradite the father from abroad.

Action to be Taken

In response to the Pathanamthitta serial POCSO abuse case, law enforcement authorities must immediately produce the apprehended suspects before the magistrate for judicial remand, while initiating formal extradition and Look Out Circular (LOC) procedures with international agencies to bring the victim’s father back from abroad. Simultaneously, the police are actively tracking down the remaining co-accused to complete arrests across all seven FIRs, filing a formal death verification report to close proceedings regarding the deceased seventh suspect, and coordinating closely with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to ensure the minor survivor receives comprehensive medical support, safe shelter, and trauma counseling.
