Global — Melbourne, Australia: Woman assaulted

Australia: A 68-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted on Flinders Lane in Melbourne’s CBD at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday. According to reports, a 40-year-old man allegedly attacked the woman and attempted to flee. A group of nearby tradespeople chased and detained the man until police arrived. The woman was taken to hospital with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening. Police confirmed that the woman and the alleged attacker were known to each other, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police should conduct a thorough investigation, obtain and preserve available CCTV and witness evidence, and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken if the allegations are established. The victim should receive necessary medical, emotional and legal support and be protected from any further contact or intimidation.
