Acid Attack Case: Man Sentenced to 10 Years
Alappuzha: The Alappuzha Additional Sessions Court sentenced a man from Ernakulam district to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a ₹5 lakh fine for an acid attack on a woman near Cherthala in 2015. The woman was attacked while returning home after work and suffered serious burns. The court also directed her to approach the Legal Aid Cell for compensation.
Action to Be Taken
Survivors of acid attacks should receive continued medical, legal and rehabilitation support, including access to compensation.
