Delhi: The Supreme Court, while hearing a suo motu case concerning recent rape incidents in Delhi-NCR, directed authorities to focus on preventing crimes against women rather than acting only after offences occur. The court stressed that women should feel safe while walking at night and using public transport and called for stronger preventive policing.
Action to Be Taken
Police and local authorities should strengthen preventive patrols, surveillance and rapid-response systems in areas where women face heightened safety risks.
