Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police announced a special task force named “Speak Up” to prevent domestic violence and support survivors. Led by Inspector General Ajeetha Begum, the initiative is intended to improve access to legal assistance, counselling, safe accommodation and livelihood support. A dedicated control room and digital reporting channels are planned to help women seek assistance confidentially.
Action to Be Taken:
Women experiencing domestic violence should be able to report abuse safely and access timely protection, counselling and legal support. Authorities should ensure that the new reporting channels are accessible and protect complainants’ privacy.
