Assam Woman Rescued from Alleged Newborn Trafficking Racket

Kerala: A 22-year-old pregnant woman from Assam was allegedly lured to Kerala with false promises of assistance during childbirth. Police said she was instead drawn into an alleged newborn trafficking network. She managed to alert authorities, leading to her rescue and the arrest of two suspects. The investigation is continuing to identify others involved in the alleged trafficking racket.

Authorities should conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation to identify and dismantle the entire trafficking network, ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice. Law enforcement agencies should strengthen monitoring of maternity-related services, illegal adoption activities, and suspected trafficking operations to prevent similar crimes. The survivor should receive immediate medical care, psychological counselling, legal assistance, and rehabilitation support to aid her recovery.
