Attempt to Sexually Assault Sleeping Woman in Kochi

Kochi: A young woman sleeping alone in her apartment near the KSRTC bus stand in Kochi woke up after an intruder entered her flat and allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. The woman raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee. Police recovered bloodstains believed to belong to the suspect and have launched an investigation. The case is being investigated by the Kadavanthra Police. 

Action to be taken 

The police should conduct a thorough and time-bound investigation by collecting all available forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and witness statements to identify and arrest the accused. The survivor should be provided with immediate medical care, psychological counselling, and legal assistance while ensuring her privacy and safety throughout the investigation. Authorities should also strengthen security measures in residential apartments, including improved surveillance, secure access systems, and regular police patrols in vulnerable areas, to help prevent similar incidents.
