Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader and former BJP spokesperson Sandeep Warrier has moved the Thiruvananthapuram District and Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail in a cyber crime case related to the alleged disclosure of information about a survivor who had filed a sexual assault complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil.
Warrier is the fourth accused in the case registered by the cyber police following a complaint from the survivor, who alleged that she was subjected to online harassment and cyber attacks after filing her complaint. The police reportedly initiated the case after receiving details of social media posts and online content targeting her.
According to reports, the anticipatory bail application is being filed through advocate Ajith Kumar, who is also associated with the legal proceedings involving Rahul Mamkootathil. The case names several individuals, including social activist Rahul Easwar and others, in connection with the alleged disclosure of the survivor’s identity and online harassment.
In his plea, Warrier has reportedly argued that he neither revealed the survivor’s identity nor shared her photograph, and that the case against him is politically motivated. He has denied the allegations and sought protection from arrest while the investigation continues.
The cyber police investigation is continuing, with authorities examining social media posts, online communications, and other digital evidence connected to the complaint.
