Cyber case registered over misogynistic remarks against women

Thiruvananthapuram: On 29 July 2026, the Kerala Cyber Crime Wing registered a case against political commentator T.G. Mohandas following complaints over remarks he allegedly made in a YouTube video that were widely criticized as misogynistic and offensive towards women. The police initiated legal proceedings after multiple complaints alleged that the statements promoted hatred, insulted women, and could incite violence. The case is under investigation to determine whether the remarks violated provisions of the law relating to hate speech and public order.

Authorities should conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations and take appropriate legal action if the remarks are found to violate the law. Law enforcement agencies should act promptly against online content that promotes misogyny, gender-based hatred, or incitement to violence while safeguarding freedom of expression within legal limits. Public awareness campaigns should be strengthened to encourage respectful online communication and discourage hate speech. Social media and digital platforms should also cooperate with authorities in addressing unlawful content and ensuring safer online spaces for women.
