Palakkad: Sreekrishnapuram Police have registered a case against a DYFI leader following allegations that he sexually assaulted a young woman after promising to secure her a job.
The accused, identified as C. Sujith, a local DYFI leader and ward member of the Sreekrishnapuram Grama Panchayat, was booked based on a complaint filed by the woman. According to the complaint, Sujith allegedly established a relationship with the victim by assuring her of employment opportunities and later subjected her to sexual abuse on multiple occasions.
Police said the alleged incidents took place at the accused’s residence and other locations. Following the woman’s statement, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was launched.
Authorities stated that efforts are underway to locate the accused, who is reportedly absconding. Police officials have begun collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the ongoing probe.
The case has sparked discussion in local political circles, while police maintain that the investigation will proceed based on the evidence gathered and the complainant’s allegations.
