French Woman and Five Children Rescued After 12 Years of Alleged Captivity in Pakistan  

Pakistan: A 54-year-old French woman, identified as Sylvie Yasmina, and her five children were rescued by Pakistani police from a remote house in Bara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after allegedly being confined and abused by her husband for nearly 12 years. The rescue operation was initiated when one of the children managed to escape and inform the police about the family’s situation. Authorities subsequently raided the residence and found the woman and her children living in poor conditions and largely isolated from society.  

According to the woman’s statement, she and her children had been subjected to physical and psychological abuse since moving to Pakistan in 2014. Investigators reported that the children were denied normal social interaction and formal education, with some never having attended school. The husband has been arrested, and Pakistani authorities have commenced a criminal investigation. The woman has reportedly expressed her desire to return to France with her children.
