Nagpur Woman Reports Six Years of Abduction, Sexual Exploitation, and Forced Marriage; Police Launch Investigation 

Nagpur, Maharashtra: A young woman approached the police after enduring nearly six years of alleged abduction, sexual exploitation, and forced marriage. According to her complaint, she was abducted as a minor and subjected to repeated physical and sexual abuse before being forced into marriage. The survivor recently escaped the abusive situation and reported the incident to the police. Authorities have registered a case and begun an investigation to verify the allegations, identify all those involved, and ensure legal action against the accused. The case has drawn attention to the need for stronger protection mechanisms for vulnerable girls and timely intervention in cases of abuse.

Authorities should conduct a thorough and speedy investigation, ensure the survivor receives medical care, trauma counselling, legal aid, and protection from further harm, and prosecute all those responsible through a fast-track court. Governments should strengthen child protection systems, improve awareness about reporting abuse, and enhance rehabilitation services for survivors of sexual exploitation and forced marriage.
