Palakkad: Police have taken several local youths into custody in connection with the suspected murder of a 66-year-old woman, Sarasal, from Kozhinjampara, who had been reported missing since 10 June. According to police, the suspects allegedly confessed during questioning that they murdered the woman, burned her body in a plastic drum, and later buried the partially burnt remains. Authorities suspect the crime was committed during an attempted theft of the victim’s nose ring. Police are conducting further forensic examinations and stated that official confirmation will be made after completing the recovery and scientific examination of the remains. The investigation is ongoing.
