An independent review of the Travelodge hotel chain, commissioned after a woman was sexually assaulted in a hotel room in 2022, identified continued security concerns. The review found reports of room intrusions at nearly one in ten of the chain’s hotels during summer 2026 and highlighted inconsistent application of room-key security procedures. It recommended measures including stronger policies addressing violence against women, improved CCTV coverage and additional staff-safety measures. Travelodge said it accepted the recommendations and would monitor their implementation.
