Sales Girl Attacked at Workplace in Karamana; History-Sheeter Arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: A 28-year-old man was arrested by Karamana Police for allegedly attacking a woman working as a sales girl at a private establishment in the Karamana area of the capital city. Police said the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Monday at a business establishment in the Kalady–Vazhavila region.

According to investigators, the accused, identified as Rahul (28), allegedly arrived at the workplace due to a previous personal dispute with the woman. He reportedly abused her verbally in front of the establishment and created a disturbance. When the woman asked him to leave the premises, he allegedly became aggressive and entered the establishment carrying an iron rod.

Police said the accused grabbed the woman by the neck, pushed her to the ground, and attempted to assault her with the iron rod, creating panic among employees and customers present at the scene. Authorities have registered the case as an attempted murder and assault incident.

Following the attack, the suspect went into hiding. Karamana Police launched a search operation and later tracked him down and arrested him. Investigators stated that the accused is known to police and has previously figured in the station’s rowdy history sheet.

The arrested man was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the case is continuing.
