Severe Domestic Assault with Machete (Kadakkavoor, Thiruvananthapuram) 

Thiruvananthapuram: A 38-year-old woman named Viji was brutally attacked by her live-in partner/husband, Anu, at a local vehicle workshop following an ongoing domestic dispute. The attack resulted in the victim’s right hand being severed and severe injuries to her head and second hand. She was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, while Kadakkavoor Police took the accused into custody. 

Action to be Taken 

In response to this extreme case of violence, immediate action centers on saving the victim’s life and securing a swift conviction. At Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, medical teams must prioritize urgent micro-vascular reconstructive surgery and head injury management while formally logging all injuries under a Medico-Legal Case(MLC). Concurrently, Kadakkavoor Police must formalize the arrest under severe Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions—specifically attempt to murder (Section 109) and causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons (Section 118)—while recovering the weapon, securing workshop CCTV footage, and recording her statement before a Judicial Magistrate under Section 183 BNSS once she is stabilized.
