CHENNAI: An 18-year-old content creator was killed and her 17-year-old friend critically injured after a group of drunken youths allegedly rammed their motorcycle following an altercation that began inside a pub in Koyambedu on Saturday night. Police said the two girls had visited MM’s Chennai Gateway pub along with friends they had met through social media when members of another group allegedly sexually harassed them. According to witnesses, one of the accused misbehaved with the victim and forced her to dance with his group, leading to a confrontation that was initially diffused by bouncers.
Investigators said the dispute escalated outside the pub before the accused left in an SUV. Believing the girls and their friends were responsible for a stone-pelting incident targeting their vehicle near the Koyambedu flyover, the group allegedly chased the victims and deliberately rammed their motorcycle. The 18-year-old died on the spot, while her friend was admitted to the intensive care unit of Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. Police have arrested seven accused, including three college students, in connection with the case. Following the incident, authorities temporarily suspended the licence of the pub and sealed the premises pending further investigation.
