Kollam: A 47-year-old woman was seriously injured after allegedly being stabbed by her husband during a domestic dispute in Kollam district. The attack, which reportedly took place in front of the couple’s daughters, has led to the arrest of the accused on charges including attempted murder.
Police identified the accused as Satheesan (55). According to investigators, tensions arose after he allegedly demanded that his wife, Rema, provide property-related documents and stand surety for him in connection with a criminal case. Rema, who had been working in Ernakulam, had recently returned home following her husband’s request. Authorities said an argument broke out when she refused to hand over the required documents. During the confrontation, Satheesan allegedly attacked her with a kitchen knife, stabbing her in the abdomen while their daughters witnessed the incident.
Family members and local residents rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for specialized treatment.
Following the attack, the accused reportedly fled the area. Police launched a search operation and arrested him near his residence the following morning. After undergoing medical examination, he was produced before a court. Kannanalloor Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the incident. Authorities are also examining the circumstances surrounding the dispute and the events leading up to the attack.
