Woman allegedly raped and her four-month-old baby killed in South Africa
South Africa: Police launched a manhunt after a 43-year-old woman alleged that she was raped during a purported cleansing ritual near the Hennops River outside Johannesburg. Her four-month-old baby was found dead in a shallow grave after the woman escaped and sought help. Police said the pastor’s wife was arrested while the pastor remained at large. The investigation includes allegations of kidnapping, rape and murder.

Survivors of sexual violence should be moved to safety immediately and provided medical, psychological and legal support, while police should thoroughly investigate all people allegedly involved.
