Woman Shot During Morning Walk in U.P.’s Etah, Land Dispute Suspected

Etah (Uttar Pradesh), June 1 : A 40-year-old woman was seriously injured after unidentified assailants allegedly shot at her during a morning walk in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district on Monday, with police suspecting a land dispute as the motive behind the attack.

The incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. near the village secretariat in Daheliya Pooth village. The victim, identified as Sadhana Mishra, had stepped out for her routine morning walk when a vehicle reportedly stopped near her and several individuals allegedly began following her. According to police, one of the assailants opened fire, leaving Mishra critically injured. After receiving information through the emergency helpline, police rushed to the spot and shifted her to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Aliganj.

While being taken to the hospital, Mishra reportedly identified two alleged attackers and named them as Ballu and Gulbahar, officials said. Medical officer Dr. Shakti Meena said the woman sustained a serious gunshot injury and was referred to a specialised medical facility due to her critical condition.

Station House Officer Vijay Singh of Jasrathpur police station said police teams inspected the crime scene and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the attack may be linked to a land dispute. Police said no formal complaint had been filed so far, but efforts were underway to trace and arrest the accused.
