Young woman and fiancé attacked — Thrissur

Thrissur: A 23-year-old woman, Vaishnavi, and her fiancé, Arun, 27, were allegedly attacked at Cherpu in Thrissur on Sunday night. According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near a supermarket at Kodannur Centre, where the couple had gone to purchase items. The accused, identified as 25-year-old Ashwin of Kodannur, allegedly attacked Vaishnavi and Arun following animosity towards Vaishnavi. Both sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Koorkenchery for treatment. Police said the accused was absconding and intensified their search for him.

Police should conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances and alleged motive behind the attack and take lawful action against the accused. The injured woman and her fiancé should receive continued medical care and appropriate protection. Authorities should also ensure that witnesses and other relevant evidence are properly secured and that the victims are protected from any further intimidation. If the allegations are established, the accused should be prosecuted under the applicable provisions of law.
